Sew Your Own: Cocktail Napkins

You guys! You know what would be fun to do? Sew something EASY. And quick. And feel instantly gratified that you completed a project-- a project you can show off at parties, no less!

If this all sounds too good to be true, believe me when I say, it IS true. This month's project is sewing cloth cocktail napkins. Pick a color theme that goes with your kitchen or next theme-party and let's get to work!

Supplies you need to sew your own cocktail napkins:

Woven (cotton) fabric (this project uses pretty small pieces of fabric, so get rid of some scraps with this!)

Thread

Fabric scissors

Ruler

Pencil

What we want to do with our small pieces of fabric is cut two squares, both 6 inches on each side.

Pin these two squares with the pretty sides of the fabric facing each other.

Sew around the squares with a 1/2" seam allowance, but remember to leave a hole big enough to get a few fingers in, so we can turn it pretty-side out later!

After sewing around, we need to clip our corners. Cut off a little triangle of fabric out of each corner (but don't cut into your stitching!).

Now it's time to turn it right side out. Take it to the ironing board and press it so all the edges look nice.

We're going to sew all around this napkin now. This will not only close up that little hole, but make the edges look that much cuter!

Make these in sets of four to decorate for your next cocktail party and you will have instantly classed up the place. And it was easy, wasn't it? See, I told you so.
