Previously on The 100: Finn lies around with a knife sticking out of his side and Bellamy brings Octavia’s Grounder back to the camp and tortures him for information, in the name of leadership.
Before we begin, HOLY FREAKING CRAP, you guys. The Grounder is Captain East from Austenland! HOW did I not notice this before last night?
And if you did, why did you not tell me?!
I suppose we should get on with what actually went down in the episode, though ...
The episode opens with the Grounder Captain East looking fly, even with his injuries. Bellamy is seated nearby, looking haunted about the situation. Miller comes upstairs and starts acting all cheeky, so Captain East headbutts him. (I totally LOLed.)
Downstairs, Clarke is video chatting with the council. Where they got the video equipment is just sort of glossed over, but whatever. Kane tells her about a supply depot nearby that might still be standing where they could possibly find supplies and shelter—because winter is coming.
Clarke goes to tell a guy named Dax that his parents want to talk to him, but when he gets to the screen, the shady guard who gave Bellamy the gun to kill Jaha is on screen. He tells Dax to take out Bellamy, and he’ll have a good life when all of the adults get to Earth. It doesn’t seem to matter that Dax is a literal murderer.
Clarke asks Bellamy to go to the depot with her. (And we all know what happens when Clarke and a guy go to a shelter alone …) The two pack up rations and head out. Dax follows, only semi-sneakily, behind.
Octavia goes to see Captain East while everyone’s distracted. She tries to clean him up and he tells her his name is Lincoln (Darn it. Just when I come up with a good nickname for him!) and they share a emotionally charged moment before Miller comes back.
Even though Clarke told Finn to rest, Raven—who is MAJORLY clingy—starts macking on him. Finn tries to bring up the Clarke situation, but Raven doesn’t want to talk about it. So, they sleep together. (I think?)
Clarke and Bellamy find the depot, which is pretty much a lost cause, but they do find blankets and guns. Bellamy starts to teach Clarke how to shoot one of the guns, but she quickly figures out that Bellamy took a huge amount of rations because he plans to run.
Jasper and Monty, who’d been packing the rations earlier, start acting like they’re on drugs. Octavia soon realizes that they’ve been eating the nuts they were packing, and so she takes a pack up to Miller. At the depot, Clarke and Bellamy start hallucinating. Bellamy sees Jaha, who blames him for the deaths of the 300, and Clarke sees her father, who tries to get her to see that forgiving Abby is important.
Back in camp, EVERYONE is tripping other than Octavia, Finn and Raven. Octavia frees Lincoln, who tells her that the Jobi (?) nuts cause this sort of thing, but it wears off quickly. She shoves him into some clothes the drugged kids have cast off, and tells him to get out of camp. But before he heads down the ladder, he kisses her. (YAY!) And as he leaves the pod, Finn sees him, but nods him on his way rather than stopping him.
Bellamy tells Hallucination!Jaha to kill him, and Dax, who isn’t tripping either, is all to happy to try and oblige. Clarke comes out of the depot to try and stop him, but the guns only work every other shot or so. The three go around a few times trying to get out of the situation until Dax has Bellamy pinned on the ground, and Bellamy stabs him in the jugular. Bellamy and Clarke share another moment about how hard being a leader is as they recover from the struggle.
The kids in camp finally start sobering up and realize that Lincoln is gone. Bellamy and Clarke return, with the guns and blankets. They both go to talk with Jaha on the video phone, and Jaha pardons Bellamy in exchange for Shady Guard’s name.
The episode wraps up with Shady Guard getting arrested and put in a cell. He gets a visitor, who turns out to be Diana. SG gets excited, but soon realizes that even though he’s not getting floated, he’s still going to die. Diana’s minion tases him and then slits his wrists, making it look like suicide.
Grounder 101:
It’s nice to know that some Grounders have kept the hopeless romantic nature alive, even in a post-apocalyptic world.
Death Toll: 1
Peace out, Dax. You were kind of a psycho, so I doubt you will be missed.
Say What:
Lincoln and Octavia definitely had one of the most intense moments of the night:
Lincoln: Octavia. This, this only ends one way.
Octavia: Just talk to him. Tell him you’re not the enemy.
Lincoln: I am.
And then poor Bellamy got told by his hallucination:
Hallucination!Jaha: Don’t you know?! Life is a fight! … If you want the peace of death, you’re gonna have to earn it.
But by far the best line of the night goes to Clarke:
Clarke: These are weapons, kay? Not toys.
Burning Questions:
- When is Raven going to realize that “the usual” isn’t what she or Finn need?
- Did Octavia actually enjoy getting kissed by Lincoln? She seemed kind of uncomfortable … but that might have been her first kiss?
- Why have Monty and Jasper not started doing a nightly comedy hour to amuse everyone? Those self-fives were perfection.
Let’s discuss the episode below.
