The 100 2x9: Remember Me

Previously on The 100: The hostility between the Grounders and the Arc survivors nearly boils over, but Clarke saves the day—like always—by taking justice into her own hands. R.I.P. Finn.

It has been a long few weeks, friends. Regardless of the fun I had over Christmas and New Year’s, it just wasn’t the same without my The 100 fix. THANK GOODNESS IT’S BACK.

P.S.—If you stumbled across this recap and are wondering what the yelling’s all about, you should check out Posh’s post: 100 reasons to Watch The 100. And then come back once you’ve caught up with the show and join in. We’ll be here. Waiting with open arms.

What went down after that doozy of a midseason finale?

Near Camp Jaha:

After the events of the last episode, it’s no surprise that Clarke is more than a little upset over the blood on her hands. But she tries to reassure herself and everyone around her that she did what she had to do. The Commander (Lexa) agrees, but says her people aren’t exactly satisfied; they want Finn’s body to be burned in the village where his crime took place. After that, the two groups can talk about what to do about Mt. Weather.

In the forest:

Clarke, Raven, Abby, Kane, Bellamy, Octavia, Lincoln and Finn’s body travel with the Grounder contingent to the Grounder village, which is called Tondc. (I see what you did there, Writers.) On the way, Bellamy tries to talk Clarke into letting him break his way in to Mt. Weather to be an inside man. She tells him no … BECAUSE SHE—and I’m quoting—CAN’T LOSE HIM TOO.

Meanwhile, Ghost!Finn keeps popping up and making Clarke (literally?) crazy.

When the group stops for the night, Lincoln tries to make nice with his people, but they call him a traitor. Octavia makes him feel better by making out with him, like five feet away from his brother. Who’s totally too preoccupied with Clarke to even notice, amirite?!

At Mt. Weather:

No one knows where Harper went (except us, of course), but Monty’s found out about the radio, which he wants to use to broadcast a message on the open Ark channel. With Maya’s help, Monty, Jasper and Miller break through the wall in the art warehouse and splice into the communication wires. But Monty realizes that Mt. Weather had been sending out a jamming signal. Before they can break through, a guard comes. Miller and Monty run, but Jasper and Maya are caught … making out. (I sense a theme. Sadly, said theme doesn't make it further than these two.)

Monty falls back on a 100er's love of shenanigans, and sneaks into the control center. He hacks the signal and sends out a recording.

Unfortunately, he gets caught. And choked out. And wakes up in a cage underneath Harper, who’s not looking so hot, with 45 empty cages surrounding them.

In Tondc:

The group doesn’t exactly get a warm welcome, but Lexa tells everyone to deal with it. She even goes so far to give Clarke the torch to light Finn’s pyre. Later, she tells Clarke about her lost lady love, Costia, who was killed by the queen of the Ice Nation (um, who?). But she got over her, because she realized that love, and grief, was just weakness. And badass lady Grounders got no place for that shizz. Clarke doesn’t exactly agree, but the wheels in her head start turning.

The groups sit down to a meal, and Kane breaks out booze to seal their alliance. Lexa asks Clarke to drink with her, but before they can, Lexa’s bodyguard Gustus (not Gus-Gus, as I misheard at first) drinks first. And then collapses. A fight nearly breaks out, an incriminating piece of evidence is found on Raven, and the 100/Ark Adults/Sky People are locked in the dining room/old subway tunnel.

Clarke, being Clarke, questions Raven about the poison. And Raven, being Raven, punches her. Ghost!Finn shows up again, but this time Clarke talks to him. Abby tries to make her feel better, but Clarke instead gets mad about her dad, and how similar mother and daughter really are.

The Grounders come to take Raven for punishment, and Indra tells Clarke that when Raven’s dead, the truce is off. Raven gets tied to a tree, and slowly sliced. Clarke struggles with feeling useless, but Ghost!Finn helps her realize that the poison wasn’t in the alcohol; she makes a show of drinking straight from the bottle to prove it. Bellamy, seeing the look on his face, accuses Gustus, who admits he did it to foil the alliance. The Grounders make him switch places with Raven, and the cutting and stabbing continues.

Right after Lexa takes the final stab, Raven picks up Monty’s broadcast. Clarke has a change of heart and tells Bellamy that’s she’s cool with him going in, that she was being weak. To which I say:

Ghost!Finn appears once more. Clarke glares him down, and tells him that “love is weakness.” He disappears, and Clarke goes off to learn more about how to be a cold-hearted bit– warrior from Lexa.

Mt. Weather 101:

Looks like the whole idea of being humane has totally been thrown out the window. I’m guessing those 45 cages won’t say empty much longer.

Death Toll: 1

Gustus was looking out for his leader, but probably should have believed in her a little bit more. Lesson of the episode: Second-guessing your commander leads to a painful death, kids.

Say What:

Thanks for the foreshadowing, Lexa:

But they do not know your suffering will be worse. What you did tonight will haunt you until the end of your days.

Kane totally gets it:

Abby: She’s a child. They’re being led by a child.
Kane: ... So are we.

What Abby means, Clarke, is that you need someone to love:

The pain will fade. What got me through was loving you.

#BELLARKEFOREVER

Burning Questions:

- Will Clarke start wearing drippy eye makeup now that she and Lexa are BFFs?

- When will Abby realize that she’s not really in command?

- How dang beautiful will Lincoln and Octavia’s babies be? (That one’s rhetorical.)

Let’s discuss below.
