Welcome back to our TV Preview series! In case this is your first time joining the series, let me explain: Over the next couple of months, I’ll be investigating the shows highlighted in our TV Preview: New Friends post, and letting you know—in my humble opinion—what’s worthy of watching live, what can wait until the weekend, what can wait until it’s on Netflix, or what can wait, well, forever.
Warning! Possible spoilers ahead.
Premiered: Sept. 23 on Fox (Watch online.)

Redeeming Qualities
Regardless of the fact that Rosewood is outwardly extraordinarily self-centered, there’s something charming about his self-awareness. And once his medical history was revealed, his personality made even more sense. I actually really loved his whole family, too; I hope we see more of them as the season goes on.
It's Not Me, It's You
Although it’s set in a different city, and the details are different, the basic plot of Rosewood seems awfully familiar to the plots of Castle, Bones, Forever, etc. In all of these shows, there’s a (somewhat) straight-laced cop who ends up partnering with someone adjacent to the law who has skills that the cop needs to solve his or her cases. We all know where this is going.
Let's Do This Again
I enjoyed the first episode more than I thought I would, but future episodes are really going to have to bring something special to the table to keep me watching.
