Love is in the air, but people are still getting abducted in Seattle, and I continue to be delighted by Blaine's many layers.
Grey Matters
Peyton is glad to see Liv and Major back together, Ravi is a little nauseated by the PDA. Clive is on a date with Dale, and telling her about the brain from Suzuki’s widow, and how brains had come up during the Meat Cute murders, when Liv and Major stroll up hand in hand. AWKWARD. Major is worried the FBI have been brought in to look into the Meat Cute killings, but Liv reassures him that no, they’re just there to look into all the recent rich guy abductions. Oh, just that.
Liv runs into Stacey Boss while investigating her case of the week. Then Peyton finds him in her office, rearranging the investigation board she has on him. He tells her that he’s visited her three previous D.A. predecessors. They all came into some money, and retired early with great benefits. He hints that this is a pretty plum assignment for such a young and inexperienced D.A. and maybe that’s because her boss isn’t taking it that seriously.
Brain Melt
Angus knows Blaine isn’t a zombie anymore!
Ravi figures out zombieism is one crazy contagious STD!
Angus becomes the Seattle zombie assassin’s next victim!
The Brain
Harry Cole, the gambling killer from last week, gloats to Clive about his sweet plea deal and how much golfing he’s going to get done in minimum security prison, when some dude on the back of a motorcycle guns him down on the courthouse steps. Liv acquires a reckless penchant for betting on anything and everything.
The Real Monster
Clive’s money is on Roger Thrunk, the fixer from Harry’s company, who is super shady. He was in jail at the time of the killing, but claims to not have ordered the hit on Harry. Harry also owed a lot of money to the Barber, the biggest bookie in town. But the real killer turns out to be Clive’s hero, former NBA camp, Calvin Owens (why is Rick Fox still trying to make it as an actor?). Calvin used to shave points in college, and Harry had been blackmailing him to pay gambling debts, but Calvin was done paying.
Winners and Chewsers
Winner: Ravi. He doesn’t have any good news to deliver, but he’s the MVP who spends hours of lab time, and tons of money on condoms, to determine whether it’s safe for Liv and Major to get busy. As a consolation for his disappointing findings, he promises the that he WILL cure zombieism.
Loser: Blaine. His enemy father becomes aware of his vulnerable status as a human and tries to force Blaine to kill a business rival’s son and bring Angus the brain. Instead, Blaine kills his beloved grandfather to use the brain to torture Angus with. But his sacrifice is for nothing when Angus disappears.
Words With a Bite
“Whoa! Aren’t brits supposed to be repressed? What would Judi Dench say?” - Liv
“She’d say, ‘we don’t know a lot of about the sexual transmission of zombieism.’ Oh, in this version, Judi Dench knows about zombies.” - Ravi
“Hey, you. Didn’t know you existed outside the station. Thought you were just put back in your Detective Clive box.” - Liv
“It’s nice to get a name. In my head you’ve been: Girl From the Morgue Who Somehow Makes Goth Work.” - Dale
“Hi, I’m barely employed arm candy.” - Major
“Dad, I hoped your first visit here would be more... horizontal.” - Blaine
Picking Your Brain
- Where did Liv learn to become such a gourmet chef with a toaster oven?
- It seems impossible that Major's side job can continue to stay hidden for much longer. How horrific is that fallout going to be?
- Does Liv and Major’s inability to consummate their relationship spell doom for them?
- “I’m Major.” “You certainly are.” Like me, was this the exact moment that you decided you love Dale?
