YA Onscreen: “Rowling Loves Black Hermione”

Welcome back to YA Onscreen! Let's hop to.

This week the casting was announced for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the theatrical sequel written by JK Rowling that will open in London's West End in summer 2016.

As one might expect, idiots and bigots balked at the notion of a black Hermione, played by the talented Noma Dumezweni, and JK Rowling responded in THE PERFECT WAY, reminding us all that she is wonderful and also it's weird that we all just assumed Hermione's white.

Ghostbusters scoop! This first image is SO BADASS. Also check out the character posters here.

Some new posters for Allegiant, all of them terrrrrrrrrrible. Well, this one isn't too bad, I guess:

In ABC Family Freeform news, AHHHH THE NEW SEASON OF PRETTY LITTLE LIARS LOOKS AWESOME!!!

If I am ever a fabulous widow, please remind me I want to buy a pair of veil sunnies.

Also! Showrunners give us closure on several abruptly canceled ABC Family series, including Bunheads and Nine Lives of Chloe King.

This poster for The 100 Season 3 is no slouch, either.

UnReal casting news! There will be a black bachelor on "Everlasting" next season, something the real The Bachelor has evidently never done, somehow???

And finally, while we're talking TV: Britt and I are CRAZY PUMPED to announce the Dawson's Creek Rewatch Project, launching January 6th here on FYA. Ready your cry face!
