You might remember our review of the Quarterly YA subscription box, which sends out a--you guessed it--quarterly box full of YA books and goodies. The same company is now bringing you a monthly YA box, called PageHabit, and they were kind enough to send me a box to review!

July 2017 PageHabit Box
This was such a fun box. I got an annotated copy of The Lake Effect, which Stephanie recently reviewed (and loved!) here. Like the Quarterly box, it's full with annotations in the author's actual handwriting. I still think this is the absolute coolest feature ever, although it does tend to be a little distracting (in a good way).
You also get a handwritten note from the author, and a few bookish goodies--would you believe I didn't already have a little book light?! (I mean, I did, which, along with my copy of The Joshua Tree, were my favorite birthday gifts when I was 11--but it has long since broken.)
The Verdict
The main difference between this and the Quarterly box is that there is "only" one book, and slightly fewer goodies. On the other hand, each box comes with a donation to literacy charities (this time, a charity in the Sudan), and if you instagram the unboxing, they'll donate another book to a child without literacy access! So, let's recap: annotated book, handwritten author note, bookish goodies, AND you get to feel good about yourself.
At $30/month, that could add up ($360/year vs. Quarterly's $200/year) pretty quickly--but a subscription of 2-3 months would be the perfect gift for the bookworm in your life. Or yourself. You deserve cool things, too.
