This is not a drill, y'all! Leila Sales has a new YA novel coming out, and we've got the scoop, including the darling cover artwork above. (Raise your hand if you wish iPhones came in that shade of hot pink.)
Here's the synopsis:
This provocative and relevant young adult novel is about Winter, a one-time National Spelling Bee Champ with a bright future ahead of her. That all changes after she haphazardly writes a racially offensive tweet that she thought was a harmless joke. What unfolds is a barrage of Internet shaming and rejection from her community and closest friends. Winter seeks to redeem herself but first must come to terms with what she wrote and understand why there was so much backlash.
Written with Leila Sales' trademark humor and keen eye for observation, If You Don't Have Anything Nice to Say deftly explores issues of microaggressions, culpability, and the boundaries of forgiveness.
Um, timely much?!! Obviously, we are counting down the days until May 1st, when we can finally get our grabby little hands on this book and devour it (after which I have no doubt that we'll have plenty of nice things to say).
Not to be left out, Leila's last two novels, This Song Will Save Your Life and Tonight the Streets Are Ours, are both getting cover makeovers for the paperback versions! The former will be available starting in February and the latter on April 3rd.

P.S. Leila, where can I get that nail polish color? Hook a sister up.
