There’s A ROSWELL Reboot In The Works

Guys. GUYS.

I’m flailing.

According to The Hollywood Reporter:

The CW is going back to Roswell.

The network is teaming with The Originals producer Carina MacKenzie for a timely reboot based on the Melinda Metz book Roswell High that also spawned the Jason Katims drama.

The project, which is in development at the younger-skewing network, has an immigrant twist. Here's the official logline: "After reluctantly returning to her tourist-trap hometown of Roswell, New Mexico, the daughter of undocumented immigrants discovers a shocking truth about her teenage crush who is now a police officer: he’s an alien who has kept his unearthly abilities hidden his entire life. She protects his secret as the two reconnect and begin to investigate his origins, but when a violent attack and long-standing government cover-up point to a greater alien presence on Earth, the politics of fear and hatred threaten to expose him and destroy their deepening romance."

Roswell was one of my original fandoms before I even knew there was such a thing. Jason Behr was one of my first fake boyfriends. The show even has a place in my marriage—my husband first asked me to go out with him in high school after the episode “Summer of ‘47” aired. (And he bought me a shooting script for our first anniversary. I found myself a great one, y’all.)

So to say that I’m excited about the idea of a new Roswell is a bit of an understatement, but that excitement is tempered with a bit of fear. Basically, this is me right now:

My one wish, currently? I hope that the showrunners take a page out of Riverdale’s casting book and bring back the original cast as Hot Parents.

What do you want to see from this reboot? Or are you totally against it? Let’s take it to the comments.
