Which club are y’all from?
We’re from Orlando North! You can find us on Goodreads.
When did your club get started?
We’re still new. Our first meeting was this past September for The Fifth Wave.
Where is your club’s fave hangout?
La Sirena Gorda, home of the best house margarita! We meet in other places, but this is our go-to.
What has been your club’s favourite book club pick so far? What did y’all like about it?
We went off-book in February and read the Lunar Chronicles books - Cinder, Scarlet, and Cress - before a book signing. Marissa Meyer’s series is AWESOME!
Which FYA book club selection has been the most divisive? What separated the people who loved it from the people who hated it?
We’ve generally been on the same page (pun not intended). We may have differed a bit on our opinions, but we’ve never had a book that one member completely loved and another hated. Then again, there were only two of us for many months, sooo…
What kind of extracurricular activities has your club participated in?
We’ve gone to a couple of book signings (Marissa Meyer, and the YA Chicks Kickin’ It tour with Anna Banks, Jessica Brody, Christina Farley, Jessica Khoury, and Amy Christine Parker) and at the end of this month (June), we’re having high tea and discussing Rebel Belle!
Tell us about the best field trip your club has been on!
I think the Marissa Meyer book signing was the best. She was pretty darn awesome, there were Game of Thrones puns (Winter is coming!), and we met our newest member in the autograph line!
Since this post was written, the Orlando North FYABC went to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter ZOMGGGG.
What’s the best part about being in a FYA book club?
The members, the books, and the margaritas!
