Yesterday, news broke that model/actress/occupational multi-hyphenate Cara Delevingne will be playing Margo Roth Spiegelman in the upcoming Paper Towns adaptation.
Cara isn't who immediately comes to my mind for Margo, but the consensus at FYA HQ (or, at least, FYA Mandys HQ) is a resounding... yeah, OK. (Sliiight spoilers in the first line.)
Mandy W.: I'm underwhelmed and skeptical, but Margo is really on in the bookends of the story, so I'm not too worried about it.
Looks-wise, Cara does seem to have an edge to her that would work well for Margo. And John Green seems to be jazzed, so who knows?
Mandy C.: I know nothing about her other than that she made out with Michelle Rodriguez at a basketball game that one time. And they are (were?) dating.
Oh, and she's in Pan? Don't know as who, though.
Mandy W.: Not apropos to anything, but Cara recently wore a pizza onesie, because that's a thing that people celebs apparently do these days. There, I've exhausted all my Cara Delevingne knowledge.
As integral as Margo is to Paper Towns, I think it's much more important that the filmmakers get the other roles right. Nat Wolff as Quentin is a phenomenal choice, so fingers crossed that Ben, Lacey, and Radar (ESP. RADAR!) will be cast just as well.
So what do y'all think about Cara as Margo Roth Spiegelman? Regardless of which side you fall under, we're all going to have to learn how to spell that last name.
