YA Movie News Roundup: THE DUFF Trailer Is Here!

Welcome back to the YA Movie News Roundup. Let's get to it!

We've got a trailer for The Duff, Ari Sandel's adaptation of Kody Keplinger's novel, and I dunno, it looks pretty cute. It's making me laugh. Now of course, there's plenty to say about how there's no universe in which Mae Whitman could be considered "fat" or "ugly," but - having not read the book, mind you - it seems to me that the point is that most people who are considered "the duff" in high school aren't fat or ugly. They're just weirdos who don't fit into the superficial strata of teenage life. Maybe I'm wrong! Read Posh's review of the book here

And check out the new teaser for Insurgent, which Posh wrote up here

And finally in trailer news, we've got a new trailer for Fifty Shades Of Grey, a movie whose marketing materials are just gonna keep making me laugh forever.

Frequent Tim Burton collaborator John August - the screenwriter behind Big FishFrankenweenie and Corpse Bride - has been tapped to take over writing duties for the upcoming adaptation of Alvin Schwartz’s Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. Possible Burton could come along too?

In not YA Movie but relevant to our interests news:

There will be a Gilmore Girls reunion at ATX Television Festival in Austin in June, and I'm gonna be there! Follow my completed Gilmore Girls Rewatch Project here

And last week, I kicked off a new Rewatch Project with The O.C.! Tune in tomorrow morning as Britt takes over the next two eps.

Jon M. Chu - the director behind the two best Step Up movies (Step Up 2: The Streets and Step Up 3D, obviously) - is going to direct a "high school dance comedy" set in the '90s called Can't Touch This

Alert! Alert! Pacey and Dawson have totally made up!
