Happiest of Fridays everyone! I am extra, super duper ready for the weekend! But before we get there, let’s take a look at our favorite pop culture news stories that happened this week.
Book Related Things
Amazon’s licensed fan-fiction has taken a turn for the WTF by adding the works of Kurt Vonnegut to its collection. Pretty Little Liars, The Vampire Diaries and...Kurt Vonnegut. Yes, that makes so much sense. Because people who read Vonnegut are totally the kind of people who don’t care if someone not-Vonnegut wrote their Vonnegut. Good luck with that Amazon.
Check out these artsy Roald Dahl book covers.
Movie Related Things
A brand new Thor: The Dark World trailer came out this week. Natalie Portman is still boring and bland, Chris Hemsworth is still much more attractive than his brother and Loki is still Loki. So, no big surprises there!
Looks like The 5th Wave is getting a film adaptation!
Great interview with John Green about TFIOS on the big screen and more.
Looks like Meryl Streep might be joining the cast of The Giver movie. Unfortunately, that good news doesn’t really counteract the fact that the “boy” who might be playing Jonas is twenty-four years old. I mean, WHAT?
Connie Britton has a copy of the Friday Night Lights movie script. Please, oh please let this happen! (And be good.)
TV Related Things
Well, we got the news that Whovians on both side of the ponds were anxiously waiting. Our twelfth Doctor will be Peter Capaldi. Doctor Who is certainly not breaking the mold with their choice, but maybe it’s for the best? Sigh.
There’s a new Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. promo. And speaking of ABC, it looks like a live action Star Wars tv show is a very real possibility.
Good news for Sailor Moon fans! Looks like the remake will stream worldwide.
Awkward has been renewed for a fourth season. (Assuming you’re still watching it.)
Hey, a reason to watch the CW’s new fall show Tomorrow People. Jason Dohring will guest star! Maybe this time his character won’t be involved in any plots to faux rape a teenage girl. One can only hope!
The Heathers tv show won’t be happening on Bravo. But it’s not quite dead yet.
Miscellaneous Things
Hey, guess what? You can now send your children to Hunger Games camp. Ummm, sure. Okay!
If you haven’t seen it already, infamously awful Harry Potter fanfic My Immortal has been turned into a hilarious web series. It’s definitely worth a watch.
And speaking of web series, the follow up to The Lizzie Bennet Diaries has been announced...and it’s Emma Approved. Based on, well, Emma, obviously. (Yes, I said follow up. I am quite comfortable retconning the shit out of Sanditon.)
